God's Footballer

It's Super Bowl Sunday. I think New York is up against Boston. Something about Giants? The city is going to go crazy tonight if we win. I could care less.

the goals bring weekly wages
yet the glory of the sports pages
is but the worship of false idols and tempts him not

I wanted to make a tote bag for a friend of mine. A Say-No-To-Plastic-Bags type of tote bag. I didn't really have a pattern, but I didn't think it could be that hard. I went down to Purl to buy some fabric. One of my many bad habits is that I don't really plan things out. Overwhelmed by all the fabric choices, the simple tote bag turned out to be a more ambitious type of project as I bought extra fabric for a pocket and linings. And because I didn't plan out a pattern before I started sewing, it took about 5 times as long to make it and was way more frustrating than I would have liked. One day I'll learn.

In the end it didn't turn out to be the simple everyday shopping bag kind of tote I was aiming for. I guess I got carried away.

Heh. Is your city carnage today? :-)

The bag looks great, particularly from the outside. I like the dotty fabric. I got a sewing machine for Christmas and a great book and am currently getting very familiar with it by testing out sewing on scrap fabrics. My first piece will be a tea towel!

oh, good luck! I really like having a sewing machine even though I don't use it nearly enough. It's like owning a pair of scissors. Everyone should have one.

Post pictures somewhere. On your flickr, maybe?

I will post pictures on my flickr. I'm not going to start a blog because I won't be THAT active! I finished my sister's tea towel last night and the decorative stitching is kind of hilariously crooked. I hope to finish my mom's in the next day or two and then I'll post pics.

I LOVE this bag! you always pick FUN fabric combos. if you're feeling particularly bored ever and have time to make another one, I'd be happy to buy a funky bag that you made. Name your price! Seriously!
I never seem to make it to actual stores! And since i have such talented friends, maybe i just don't have to!!!
